Director of Counseling
Brianna Bacorn was born in Rapid City, South Dakota. After a brief stopover in Illinois, she grew up in Tallahassee, Florida. She graduated from Lawton Chiles High School summa cum laude and moved on to Florida State University, where she studied social work and graduated in three years, again summa cum laude. Knowing that fulfilling her passion would require more education, she went on to attain her Master’s in social work at FSU where she maintained a 4.0.
Bacorn moved to Atlanta with her husband in the fall of 2013 and there completed the clinical internship she needed in order to graduate. She had the honor of serving LaAmistad as their first social work intern. Over the course of the semester she fell in love with the mission, goals, and direction of the program, and enjoyed working with the students and their families. She joined the LaAmistad staff team in January of 2014. By overseeing the Teen Center program, mentoring students, leading small group sessions, and providing therapy, she lives out her belief that when emotional, environmental, and academic aspects of students are nurtured they will be successful.
When she is at home, Bacorn enjoys snuggling up with a good book, quality conversations over many cups of coffee, and hiking with her husband Matthew and her dog Scout.
