Marcus Laing

Communications Director

Marcus Laing was born in Redbank, New Jersey. At the age of five, his family relocated to Atlanta where he attended George Walton High School in Cobb County. Marcus then attended Temple University in Philadelphia where he earned a major in Strategic Organizational Communications and a minor in Sociology. After college, Marcus founded a small branding and social media management company called GhostWritersOTP.

His passion for the service of others, specifically underserved students and families, has led him to specialize in non-profit marketing and communications. Often tasked with managing internal and external channels of communication, Laing has worked for a variety of non-profit organizations since graduating. Prior to joining LaAmistad, Marcus worked in a communications capacity for three organizations, focusing primarily on health, education and public policy.

A storyteller at heart, Marcus relishes the opportunity to share the stories of the community members he is proud to serve. Over the course of his career, his compelling words have secured tens of thousands of dollars in operating funds through grant applications and individual giving campaigns. When Mr. Laing is not at LaAmistad, he loves listening to and reviewing music, watching sports, writing, and spending time with his two dogs.
